We are currently seeking a Governance Officer to join us on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract basis.

The main purpose of the role is to work to a consistent and professional standard providing excellent administrative, secretariat and professional governance support to the activity of the Governance and Data department.

We are currently seeking a Governance Officer to join us on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract basis.

The main purpose of the role is to work to a consistent and professional standard providing excellent administrative, secretariat and professional governance support to the activity of the Governance and Data department.


What will you do?:

This is an interesting and varied role.

Within this role, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing endtoend secretariat support, including developing agendas and papers; the papersout process; attending and taking minutes of governance meetings and data department meetings; and progressing completion of actions.
  • Assisting with Governance meeting management including the arrangements for venues, and Board and Committee member travel.
  • Providing administrative and governance support to the Governance department e.g relating to the delivery of FSB local volunteer elections, the policy volunteer appointment process and the AGM.
  • Managing the generic mailboxes for the Governance and Data teams, including prioritising responses to enquiries/triaging requests.
  • Drafting key Corporate Governance documents and procedures and presenting these to relevant Committees
  • Supporting the maintenance of the departmental risk registers, and business wide policy log.
  • Preparing and publicizing content for the Department's work on the FSB intranet.
  • Supporting the department with EDI and ESG/CSR reporting and projects.
  • Delivering training for Board and Committee members and staff e.g., on corporate governance matters and MS Teams.
  • Acting as a point of contact for key internal and external customers including FSB members and volunteers.

Who are we looking for?:


  • An interest in corporate governance and company law
  • Practical working knowledge of a company secretarial / governance/compliance
  • Minute taking at committee and/or Board level
  • Experience of supporting Directors or senior management
  • A team player
  • The capacity to work under pressure and respond promptly and proactively
  • Experience using Sharepoint, MS Teams and MS Office
