Learning Support Assistant (Full-Time)


Location:
Croydon


Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm


About Us:


Empowering Learning is currently seeking passionate individuals to join our team as Learning Support Assistants for SEMH schools in Croydon and surrounding areas.


Role Overview:

Responsibilities:


  • Provide onetoone and small group support to students with SEMH, ADHD, ASD, and complex needs.
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment conducive to the social and emotional wellbeing of students.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to address the specific needs of students.
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding towards students experiencing trauma and emotional difficulties.
  • Uphold rigorous safeguarding procedures to ensure the welfare and safety of all students.

Requirements:


  • Experience working with challenging teenagers, preferably in a school setting.
  • Background in youth work, youth support work, or working with young offenders is desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs (SEN).
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to deescalate volatile situations.
  • Passion for supporting young learners with SEMH and complex needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Commitment to upholding safeguarding protocols and promoting a safe learning environment.
