We have a number of vacancies within Rhondda Cynon Taf for a permanent School Crossing Patrol. Being a School Crossing Patrol is very rewarding, enabling you to provide an invaluable service to your community. The hours are part-time, term time only.

We are looking for individuals who want to help and who have a genuine interest in the safety of children and adults on their journeys to and from school.

Our School Crossing Patrols are punctual, trustworthy, honest and dedicated people who are valued members of their community, who, no matter what the weather, represent one of the friendliest faces in public service, being polite and courteous at all times.

Common and practical sense is important for a School Crossing Patrol. Applicants should have knowledge of road safety, and an understanding of the current Highway Code.

The ability to judge vehicles speed and distance of oncoming traffic and appreciation of vehicle stopping distances in all weathers is also necessary.

You will need the ability to communicate with children and adults to ensure that they are safe whilst they are crossing.

The Road Safety Unit will ensure that you are provided with the correct training, uniform and equipment to carry out your duties.
