South East London

Main Purpose of the job:

To provide a high quality customer focused Library and Information Service in accordance with the Council's vision, key priorities and service core principles:

To deliver excellent customer care and engage with communities to promote a love of reading and learning and the full range of library services.
To work towards improving service delivery and service performance.
To understand, support and develop different ways of accessing library services across the borough to all residents.
Work within a designated team to deliver library services and achieve service and Council outcomes.

As the Librarian - Local History, the post holder works to support product and audience development by leading on the following area:

To plan, develop and deliver a quality, innovative and flexible local history service
To manage, promote and develop Local History and Archives collections working closely with the Archivist
To promote and market the services of the Local History Centre
To work with colleagues to deliver and promote the use of the local history collections.
To engage with a range of customers and involve them in the development of local history services
To contribute to continuous service improvement through challenge and innovative thinking.
To initiate and undertake project work with a range of partners as necessary.

Experience

Excellent experience of working in a local history/archives environment
Excellent experience of promoting local history/archives services to a range of client groups

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract

Salary:
£22.00-£40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
