Marks Sattin are working in partnership with a large global organisation in the Warwickshire area to recruit an Interim Payroll Manager on a 6 month contract basis to provide specialist support to the national payroll function.

The Interim Payroll Managerwil report to the Shared Services Director.
The Interim Payroll Manager will have prior experience working in fast paced environment. Ideally you will have supported process improvement initiatives to drive a more efficient business function.


The day-to-day responsibilities of the Interim Payroll Manager will include:

  • Accountability for the payroll process across two large businesses within the Group
  • Maintain a full working understanding of the organisation's payroll procedures and other integrated business processes
  • Daytoday supervision and management of the Payroll Team Leaders providing coaching, guidance and motivation, and developing colleagues to meet their potential
  • Assigning and prioritising workloads within the team to deliver high quality results
  • Delivery of service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Ensuring the highest standards of financial control are met in line with legislative compliance
  • Driving the 'Continuous Improvement' strategy across the Payroll teams
  • Transition management of transferring existing Payroll processes to align with agreed target operating models across the Group
  • Ensuring that appropriate controls are implemented to reduce the risk of delays and errors, and implement actions to mitigate any impact
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and their teams to facilitate delivery of accurate payments

To be considered you must:


  • Have managerial experience within payroll. At least 5 years' experience of managing a payroll team
  • Have good knowledge of Payroll and HR legislation
  • Have experience working with Time & Attendance software packages
  • Have experience working with payroll software packages
  • Have excellent communication skills responding to queries from both internal and external stakeholders
  • Be thorough and meticulous with extreme attention to detail
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office packages
  • Be able to identify and resolve issues and identify process improvements
