You will be responsible for providing proactive, professional assistance on a range of administrative duties that will actively contribute to the priorities and efficient running of the school.

Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team you will provide administrative support to the Headteacher, Finance Lead, Business Leader, Senior Leadership Team and school staff.

Main Responsibilities:


To provide administrative support to Headteacher, Business Leader, SLT, school staff and governors ensuring the effective smooth running of the school within the office admin team.


  • To produce documents, reports and presentations using a variety of software packages.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information, ensuring compliance with Data Protection.
  • To manage the school website.
  • To manage other web based online school systems.
  • To establish and maintain internal and external contacts, ensuring effective communication.
  • To provide backup administrative support to reception / admin assistant if required
  • To document processes and manage content within the relevant areas including website.
  • To also act as a point of contact for reactive queries and requests for advice and support received via a variety of channels.
  • Undertaking other activities and covering across the school as directed by the line manager, maintaining service standards through peak periods.
  • To process financial payments and undertake all associated paperwork
  • To write lunch staff rotas and work with the kitchen and SLT to create menus
  • To work with the breakfast club team to write plans and organise purchasing of food and resources.
  • To liase with contractors where required.
  • To keep Health and Safety records up to date.
  • To write or review risk assessments and support with the planning and organising of trips and visits.
  • To communicate with Governors and the Clerk to the Governing body regarding, agendas, minutes policies and other key information.
  • Completing audits and the census.
  • To undertake any other work or duties as directed by the Headteacher

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of secretarial training or demonstrable experience of working in a similar Secretarial / Administrator Role.
  • Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or above/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and spoken English and be a superb proof reader.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher).
  • Extremely organised, efficient with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve shared objectives.
  • Excellent timemanagement skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to use initiative to prioritise own workload.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel Spreadsheets with emphasis on filtering data.

  • Experience of working within an education setting.

  • Experience of problem solving and being able to assist with practical and physical tasks when necessary.
