WaveLength has been the leading national loneliness charity for 80 years, and has successfully helped to reduce loneliness through the provision of technology.

WaveLength works at a local level through a network of partners on the ground to deliver help, comfort and contact to those most in need.

This approach effectively ensures that every piece of technology that is donated is tailored to meet the demands of the beneficiaries.


Policy:


  • To proactively coordinate WaveLength's response to national and local government agenda changes and facilitate appropriate responses both politically and organisationally
  • To develop and maintain an understanding of the main issues affecting loneliness both nationally and locally
  • Develop and deliver effective influencing strategies that successfully influence key decisionmakers, including Government bodies, Ministers, and local government.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders and partners and work with colleagues to ensure that the organisation's engagement strategy is planned and coordinated, identifying opportunities for collaborative partnerships.
  • Influencing national and local Government on loneliness issues & technological interventions
  • Analyse arising policies; briefing the CEO on these policies and including recommendations for action, and provide updates to CEO on UK policy issues, processes, frameworks and decisionmaking structures in the form of verbal and written briefings
  • Manage and oversee the Digital Equity Group, including the administration and facilitating bringing people together, organising meetings, coordinating priorities and sending out communications
  • Follow and adapt WaveLength's strategic policy agenda where necessary, ensuring it is being met
  • Act as a key external spokesperson for the charity's campaigns and as an organisation highlevel lobbyist with senior external figures.
  • Lead on the reporting and measurement of the impact of the campaigning, policy and public affairs strategies and provide analysis where possible, including board reports.

Communications:


- Manage, monitor and create engaging content for all of our social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube as well as other marketing and communication materials, including our website.

  • Work with the team to test different communication approaches and create reports on all digital activities.
  • Write press releases and be the main contact point for press engagement alongside the CEO.
  • Ability to communicate WaveLength's position, unified approach and work in inperson settings such as meetings, etc.
  • Maintain and update WaveLength's website and utilise tools such as google analytics to measure engagement.
  • Participate in online forums e.g. The Loneliness Action Group, The UKRI Loneliness & Social Isolation in Mental Health Research Network, The Loneliness Action Group
