Description
The post holder will work unsupervised as a member of the Right Start and School Nursing Service.

The post holder will work as part of an integrated skill mix team in the delivery of the Oldham Right Start and Early Years offer and the School Nurse Led Healthy Child Programme.

To plan, deliver and evaluate interventions to meet identified needs as delegated by the Named Health Visitor/School Nurse.

Work in partnership with the Named Health Visitor / School Nurse, Right Start colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals.

Understand why health and well-being is important for children and promote healthy lifestyles

To support parents in managing difficult child behaviour through positive parenting approaches

Support children to manage their own behaviour in relation to others.

Understand and identify when a child / family is in need of additional support.


Plan and provide interventions to meet identified additional needs, working under the direction of the named health visitor / school nurse and in partnership with parents and/or carers and other professionals, where appropriate.

To develop, plan, deliver and evaluate these interventions / services to meet the needs of children and their families.


Understand safeguarding policies and procedures, including child protection, recognise when a child is in danger or at risk of abuse, and know how to act to protect them.

To safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children at all times.


Work co-operatively with colleagues and other professionals to meet the needs of babies and children and enable them to progress.

To monitor families engagement through the collection of data and other information to inform performance monitoring.
