iMultiply are working with global manufacturing company, to recruit a Financial Controller based in the South of Scotland, focusing on the UK business.

This is a full time, permanent position with hybrid working available.

The Role


The Financial Controller has overall oversight for the day to day operation of finance for the site whilst also acting as a proactive business partner to multiple areas of the business.

This role will be responsible for financial reporting, financial controls,preparation and submission of monthly financial accounts and forecasts whilst also providing ad-hoc analysis to senior leadership team when required.

The Financial Controller is part of the site Senior Leadership Team and has a dotted reporting line to thesite lead.

Day-to-day you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Financial management of the POR and budget.
  • Ensure accuracy of the period financial records.
  • Maintain books and records to full trial balance status and perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (in particular inventory) including posting correct entries as appropriate.
  • Ensure conformance with all financial aspects of business ethical, legal and trade compliance requirements.
  • Site Finance lead to understand the financial position of sites including full trial balance for balance sheet and profit and loss accounts including accruals and prepayments etc. for each month end, closing to a strict timetable and report into the businessreporting system.
  • Issue and collate required inputs/submissions and review/challenge the rationale of submissions from sales & operations to ensure quality of the forecasting that forms the basis for monthly POR including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Define and implement the monthly process to determine the POR submission, including gathering and reviewing sales order input submissions, determining sales from backlog and working with sales/operations to agree figures.
  • Derive P&L, trade working capital and statistical figures based on sound analysis and assumptions, engaging appropriate resources to ensure that any figures have a solid basis.
  • Run meetings to agree any changes in the forecasts and communicate output local and BU management.
  • Prepare and contribute to all financial planning processes such as growth planning and profit/complexity reviews providing information as specified to required timescales.
  • Work with site lead and finance manager to drive the annual budget process ensuring compliance with reporting timescales.
  • Review of monthly VAT, Intrastat and EC sales submissions aligning to fiscal reporting policy.
  • Provision of financial data relating to grant claims; management of grant income; main point of contact for grant awarding body and grant auditor.
  • Review and approval of all purchase ledger and expense payment runs in banking system.
  • Main point of contact for all banking arrangements.
  • Management of internal and external Insurance reporting at policy renewal.
  • Provide ad hoc reports as required by the management team.
  • Implement any new tools and/or systems that improve or automate the process on an ongoing basis.
  • Produce annual set of statutory accounts.
  • First point of contact for internal and external auditors.
To be considered for the role you must have the following experience:

  • Qualified accountant with considerable post qualifying experience in a commercial environment
  • preferably in a manufacturing, engineering or project driven environment.
  • Experience with corporate accounting systems and proficient computer skills, advanced Excel skills are essential.
  • UK/US GAAP and SOX compliance experience.

This Financial Controller role is offered on a full time, permanent basis with a competitive package including a salary of £70,000 to £80,000 depending on experience.

Hybrid working is also available.
