In a nutshell

The Officer - Operational Safety reports to the Manager - Operational Safety.

The core role will be to ensure the VAA Safety Management System (SMS) database Incident Reporting Management Analysis (IRMA) is managed daily to ensure all Occurrence Reports (ORs) are processed, in line with the requirements.

Day to day

The Officer - Operational Safety will:

Assist in ensuring the output from the safety database is accurate and up to date by using various PowerBi dashboards.

Monitor through the various safety channels of any industry watch events.

Add any industry watch events into IRMA and collate these events for each of the Safety and Security Action Groups (SSAG) packs.

Assist in the preparation and collation of the SSAG packs. Highlight any seen trends to the relevant accountable SSAG person.


Work with the wider Health, Safety & Security (HSS) team to fulfil any shortfalls from IRMA or other projects within the HSS team.

Assist in the collation and promotion of HSS safety surveys.

Promote a positive and robust safety culture amongst the wider VAA teams.

About you

Do you have an airline/technical background with a passion for safety and the data that drives it? Are you able to communicate findings in a concise and informative way? If so, and you have the below experience and skills, we'd love to hear from you

  • Extensive experience in an aviation/technical environment
  • Use of Microsoft systems, including Excel
  • Basic Safety Management Systems understanding
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with a number of different people
