We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and well organised Clerical Assistant to work at our Children's Complex Care Needs Team which is based at a purpose built unit in Cheadle Heath, Stockport.

We provide overnight breaks for children and young people with severe learning disabilities and additional health needs.

The Team is an extremely busy service, which receives a lot of calls and enquiries.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills gained in previous administration or clerical roles or via any previous working or voluntary experiences.

They will ideally be familiar with hospital computer systems or equivalent (training will be provided) and have good IT skills.


The Clerical Assistant must be personable and pleasant in nature as they play an essential role in supporting the Complex Care Needs Specialist Nursing Team and this will include the general welcoming of service users on arrival into the department and for the general upkeep of the reception area.


  • Managing the inputting of service users admissions and discharges for overnight stays on Patient Centre system.
  • Coordinate the ordering of supplies for service users, understanding stock levels and equipment needed.
  • Liaison with other health trusts and providers for children referred into the department.
  • Be able to present any potential problems to the clinical team for further input where necessary using clear and concise communication skills.
  • Support the coordination of rotas for the team and the recording of absences.
  • Be responsible for keeping databases up to date in relation to inputting of activity data around the service needs.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and be able to pick up other colleagues work if necessary to ensure the departmental deadlines are met.

  • Supporting the Nursing Team with all general administration duties. This includes working with other healthcare organisations and dealing with patients, relatives and staff.
  • Support the collection of data using Excel spreadsheets and shared drives on the Trust network.
  • Accurate inputting of activity data for the team onto the database. Inputting admissions and discharges data on Patient Centre within submission timeframes.
  • Photocopying, scanning, typing, filing and taking accurate messages for team members
  • Coordination and ordering of supplies for children under the continuing care team gaining an understanding of stock levels and equipment needed.
  • Liaison with other health trusts and providers for children referred into the team.
  • Receive deliveries from Receipt & Delivery Stores and distribute accordingly.
  • Assist with coordination of rotas for the team.
  • Maintain client/patient confidentiality and information governance.
  • Any duties that may be assigned from time to time.

If successful this vacancy will require a Standard DBS check at a cost of £21.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary


In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
