An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking and motivated occupational therapist or nurse to work within the STAR-T Substance Misuse Team at North London Forensic Service (NLFS) which is part of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust.

The post is based within Chase Farm hospital providing assessment, treatment and consultation for service users with a dual diagnosis.

The service caters for residents from across NLFS, and is an innovative service, run as a collaborative multi-disciplinary team with both residential and community services.


In addition to contributing to the intervention team and the therapy programme, the role involves working alongside multiple agencies in and outside of NLFS establishment.

You will be expected to have skills in engaging service users with complex presentations and will have experience working alongside colleagues from different disciplines.


This post will be responsible for providing/supporting a dynamic graded group programme and individual therapy that is responsive to the needs of service user's.

You will need to be a visible and positive presence within the service and wider community services and will be responsive and supportive to the needs of each person using the service.

The STAR-Team is the in-patient substance misuse team which works closely with the ward based MDT's.

The successful applicant will help to develop and deliver substance misuse services, ensuring that high quality treatment interventions are delivered to service users with alcohol and drug problems within the forensic service.

The post holder will act as a specialist resource to both inpatient and community forensic teams providing substance misuse through-care throughout service users journey through the service.

Their role will include providing specialist substance misuse assessment and therapy to these service users, the on-going implementation, development and evaluation of the current intervention programme, working with MDT staff within the service to promote awareness and understanding of substance misuse issues through offering advice and consultation on service users' care to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers.
