An opportunity has arisen to become part of a dynamic trustwide specialist team.

This will involve the care of Gynae Oncology patients on the cancer pathway, in addition to supporting them living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis.

The post holder will be an integral part of the nurse specialist team, aiming to enhance patient experience through service delivery and development.


The Gynae oncology nursing team consists of 4 clinical nurse specialists, genetics and trial team, the support worker will be an integral part of this trustwide team.

You will be closely supported and mentored by the nurse specialist team, and supported to undergo any appropriate training.


Under the guidance and supervision of a registered practitioner, the post holder will support the care of gynae cancer patients and their family, during their cancer journey through diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, into living with and beyond cancer.


This role involves provision of emotional and informational support, demonstrating respect of patients' diverse cultural backgrounds, whilst ensuring their privacy and dignity is maintained.

This will involve telephone and face to face support of patients and their relatives/carers.

The role will involve supporting the gynaecological cancer clinical nurse specialist team within surgery and oncology.


The postholder will be required to provide administrative support and record-keeping, clinic maintenance and audit of nurse-led clinics, and ensuring clinic letters, prescriptions and appointments are relayed to patients in a timely and efficient manner.


The role will require liaison and effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers to provide co-ordinated high-quality patient-centred care.


The post holder will play a key role in supporting the specialist nursing team to include providing evidence-based information and sign-posting to appropriate resources and completing of Holistic Needs Assessments.
