Job description
We are seeking a highly organised, customer‑focused individual to lead our Transport team. In this role, you will help oversee the college's transport provision for students, ensuring they travel safely to and from campus each day using our fleet of vehicles, taxis, and external transport providers.
Your duties
Key tasks associated with this role include;
- Oversee the safe and reliable daily operation of all student transport services.
- Manage routes, timetables and resources to deliver an efficient, customer‑focused service.
- Lead and coordinate transport staff, ensuring effective rota coverage and driver allocation.
- Monitor fleet safety, servicing schedules, fuel usage and compliance through the fleet administrator.
- Handle transport budgets, income collection and procurement, including contract tendering.
- Manage student bus passes, travel permissions and clear communication of updates or delays.
- Maintain strong relationships with transport operators, ensuring contracts, DBS checks and SLAs are met.
- Support curriculum trips and oversee taxi accounts with accurate, auditable records.
- Monitor student behaviour on transport and liaise with curriculum teams when needed.
- Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, GDPR and equality, diversity & inclusion standards.
Due to the operating hours of the service there may be a need to be on call at either end of the day in case of emergencies.

Person specification
The successful candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:
- You will have previous experience in a busy customer focused role.
- You will need strong organisational skills and enjoy managing multiple activities simultaneously.
- You must be IT literate and understand the importance of attention to detail and accuracy.
- You will have excellent communication skills and be able to positively relate to people from all walks of life.
- You should be used to working with large amounts of data and have a flexible approach to your work to enable you to adapt to changing priorities
- You will have a minimum of a grade C in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent) and a full driving licence.
