About The Role:

We are looking to source an exceptional Engineering CNC Machining Apprentice for our client, Lewmar.

If you want to become a highly skilled machinist manufacturing complex, precision parts and components from specialist materials using CNC machine tools this is the role for you.

This CNC machining engineering apprentice programme willform part of our succession planning for the future. You will be trained,supported, and monitored throughout the process.

When your formal CNC machiningengineering apprenticeship starts you will be paid and day-released to PETA inHavant for the duration of your programme.

This will start by learninghow to work safely, efficiently and use technical information.

You will alsolearn how to use manual lathes and Mills, CNC lathes and mills as well as usehand fitting and assembly skills.

Additionally, you will learn how to useComputer Aided Design systems and undertake improvement activities.


Training to be provided:

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge)
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining
Level 3 Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will achieve the Engineering Technician (CNC Machinist) Apprenticeship Standard
Overall duration 48 months


About the role:


Joining the our team as a CNC Machining Apprentice, yourrole will be focused on learn about the metal cutting processes on site.

Aspart of your programme, you will learn how to:


  • Check materials before starting work
  • Become competent using technical information
  • Set up a range of workholding devices including chucks, fixtures and vices
  • Programme, set and operate CNC machinery
  • Complete machining operations
  • Adjust a range of machining parameters to produce products with a high degree of accuracy and finish
  • Use a range of measuring equipment

Essential skills:To be considered for the role of CNC Machining Apprentice, you will have a keen eye for detail and take pride in completing work to a high quality level.
You will also require the following skills and qualifications:

  • 2 GCSE's at grade C (4) or above, or equivalents in maths and English
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Self motivated and driven
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn
