To act as a Quality Engineer within the company ensuring the product and manufacturing processes meet with the company's quality standards.

Responsible for monitoring the quality systems implementation on the shop flow, driving continuous improvement throughoutthe process, handling and managing non-conforming material and driving down scrap levels in process.

In addition, the Metrology Specialist will be accountable for managing the Incoming and In-Process Inspection teams to ensure that all products are inspected to the level required to meet the company's overall objectives.

Responsibility for reviewing and definingthe metrology equipment which is used throughout the organisation and ensuring calibration and required accuracy are maintained.


Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate and develop the Inspection Team to ensure the standards and skill levels enable department and company objectives to be met
  • Ensure training is provided to the Standards Room and Incoming Inspection Staff
  • Ensure the ability to operate and achieve consistent accurate results on all fine measurement equipment used within the company
  • Develop the Measurement Approaches for features on NPI (New Product Introduction)
  • Work proactively and independently to identify and drive improvement activities based on the results of inspection and measurement completed
  • To ensure FAIRs are compiled and completed in line with internal and customer requirements
  • Represent the Business at relevant metrology Forums to identify new measurement tools and solutions maintaining the business capability in line with corporate and customer requirements
  • To engage with the shop floor production and actively identify, establish and drive continuous improvement throughout the organisation, responding to the quality and failures identified
  • To drive and lead 8D analysis across Barden as required
  • To deliver training across the organisation on critical quality skills including 8D, SPC, Visual Inspection and Root Cause Investigation Techniques
  • To work as an integral part of the Quality Engineering team to ensure that all audits are completed in line with their planned schedule
  • To work with the Quality Team promoting the Quality Strategy and practical implementation throughout the organisation
  • To work with the Quality team to identify areas and issues of noncompliance to standards and procedures across the business
  • Actively use near miss analysis, trend analysis and lessons learned principles in order to facilitate the identification and implementation of robust preventive actions
  • To process internal concessions and production permits
  • Provide support to production which includes but is not limited to MRB, Scrap Escalation process, Grease Witness and QA Stamp Approval sign off
  • Actively identify and lead Quality improvement projects; ensuring completion in a timely manner
  • To promote best practice in the use of thorough and robust techniques
  • To train others in Quality tools and practices as necessary

Qualifications and desirable skills:

  • Audit qualification against ISO9001 or AS9100
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Demonstrable involvement in the use and a comprehensive understanding of quality improvement tools, such as Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), First Article Inspection Report (FAIR), Production Part Approval Process(PPAP), Measurement Systems Analysis
  • Comprehensive understanding of statistical analysis to validate and analyse manufacturing processes
  • Management and Leadership experience
  • Formal training and comprehensive understanding of quality management systems ISO9001, AS9100, AS9120
