Our Insurance, Pensions and Investments division helps personal and business customers with their General Insurance, Protection, Investment and Retirement needs through some of the biggest names on the high street.

We support around 10 million customers with assets under administration of £155 billion and annuity payments in retirement of over £1 billion every year.


Within General Insurance our purpose is to implement a sustainable Home Insurance commercial strategy through collaborative relationships, providing insight and understanding through data, whilst balancing customer and business needs.


The Indemnity Control Team is part of the Insurance Platform and is all about contributing through helping us to understand both customer outcomes and developments, and how we manage and improve our claims cost.


Job Description:


There is no typical day in the life of a Senior Data and Insight Analyst making it both an exciting and rewarding role.

The role is responsible for undertaking pro-active, timely and meaningful analysis of claim volume and cost trends, proactively highlighting issues and identifying cost and process improvements.


The role also undertakes root cause analysis, working closely with colleagues across the General Insurance Platform and the Insurance Claims customer journey, to provide the meaningful insight required to inform and enable key decision making.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Enable key decision making within Home Insurance claims, analysing claims cost performance, and influencing factors and utilising insight from the wider insurance market.
  • Deliver insight to support both internal and group communication of GI claims and cost trends and the issue of proactive customer guidance ahead of potentially damaging weather events.
  • Support GI Claims savings initiates delivery, contributing ideas and undertaking the tracking and reporting of delivery against targets, presenting these results to colleagues at governance meetings.
  • Produce and validate large complex datasets
  • Share and present proactive insight and analysis at key forums to help steer operational and strategic change.
  • Provide key claims cost trend and market insight to support the setting of the claims cost budget and the ongoing monitoring of claims cost performance against this.
  • Actively supporting the GI Claims operational response to serious weather events, providing timely, accurate and value adding claims and claims data to do this.
We're looking for someone with the following Skills and Experience:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, taking ownership from start to finish.
  • Ability to extract and manipulate data using SQL and present outputs through a variety of medium including Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, SQL and SAP. Experience using advanced Excel is required and desirable for Tableau.
  • Confident operating in a highly numerate environment and bringing this output to life across a range of audiences

Whilst experience in Tableau or similar data handling software is desirable it is not essential. This is, however, an analytical role so excellent numeracy and literacy skills are required.
