Description

We are seeking a motivated and commitment postdoctoral research assistant to join our project From practice to policy: addressing the gender-gap in primary schoolchildrens writing.

The project is led by Victorina Gonzalez-Diaz (English Department, University of Liverpool) and Elizabeth Parr (School of Education, Liverpool Hope University).

In partnership with School Improvement Liverpool (SIL), the project will develop, trial and externally-evaluate a series of school interventions on school writing and gender for primary school teachers and pupils (Year 5) in three primary schools in the Merseyside area.

The interventions will be based on a selection of the findings from our recent policy briefing and will focus on conceptualisations of 'good' writing and perceptions of 'gendered' school writing (differences in writing performance depending on gender).

The interventions will be based on collaborative discussions, reflective and reflexive group work and structured knowledge-building cycles.

It is expected that the interventions (4 in total) will take the form of 2-hour sessions for teachers and 40-minute sessions for pupils.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.

Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
