Description

The After School Sports Club Coach and Mentor role is a
part time, term time opportunity delivering after school sports clubs to schools
in the Nottingham City areas.

The aim of the role is to design and deliver after school clubs to help students develop basic skills in sports and to encourage staying active.

Every half term, the sports will alternate but you will need to be able to design and deliver sport sessions based on
:
Boxercise/Circuit Training, Basketball, Cricket and Athletics.


Roles and responsibilities:


  • To coach students to develop basic skills in a variety of sports by designing after school sports club sessions for a variety of sports including Circuit Training, Basketball, Cricket and Athletics.
  • To ensure all students are engaged and are participating.
  • To build strong rapports with the students you will be working with (some of which may display challenging behaviours).
  • To be flexible, adapt quickly and think on your feet to be able to positively and successfully respond to any challenges or issues that come your way.
  • To be able to understand and follow relevant safeguarding and health and safety policies and procedures.
  • To be able to regularly update key contacts on students' progression and any issues that arise.
  • To ensure that you're punctual, you plan the sessions ahead of time including getting any necessary equipment prepared and that sessions are delivered in a timely manner.

Skills and Qualities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to confidently engage, motivate and deliver after school sports sessions.
  • Great relationship building skills to develop good working relationships with students, school staff and colleagues.
  • Patience to coach students of varying ages and abilities.
  • Good organisation skills to plan sessions in advance and arrive in time to ensure all equipment is organised as required.
  • Administration skills to update school staff on students' progress.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety.

Requirements:


  • You must have access to a car or live locally to be able to travel to the schools independently.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths & English at grade 4/C (desirable)
  • BTEC / A-Levels (desirable)
  • Coaching Qualification (desirable)
  • Practical experience playing and coaching sport (this doesn't have to be paid)
Whilst we value academic qualifications, they're not essential. We would like to hear from those who have experience in designing and delivering sport sessions.


Job Types:
Part-time, Temporary contract


Salary:
£20.00-£40.00 per hour

  • Nottingham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Sports coaching: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
