This is an exceptional opportunity to join our product control team supporting the Commodities and Global Markets Group in our London office.


Due to business growth within Macquarie's global Commodities & Global Markets division, we are seeking to onboard a Senior Manager - Product Control.

In this role, you will support Commodities & Global Markets with a focus on Commodities markets.

The Commodities & Global Markets commercial team provides clients with risk, capital, and financing solutions along with storage and transportation services across physical and financial markets.

Traded markets include EMEA Power, Gas and Emissions, Agricultural Commodities and Global Resources as well as Commodity Investor Products.


The Product Control Group, within Macquarie's Commodities Markets and Finance function, is accountable for substantiating, analyzing, and reporting P&L for Macquarie's trading businesses.

The Product Control group performs these accountabilities through daily review of trader flash P&L vs.

actuals, P&L attribution analysis, financial statement reserves/adjustments, and P&L commentary in order to produce timely and accurate period-to-date performance results.


Your key accountabilities include:


  • Review daily P&L reports and associated processes, including new deal highlights, deal amendments, attribution analysis and commentary, and reserves/adjustments.
  • Assist with monthend closing processes, including balance sheet controls and various other internal/external reporting requirements, while meeting closing deadlines.
  • Review forward book ensuring proper derivative accounting standards are followed.
  • Work with the trading organisation and financial management group to help communicate variances between the daily economic P&L and general ledger.
  • Ensure compliance with all Macquarie financial policies and processes.
- assist in the continued development of Product Control staff and finance policies and procedures.

  • Document job processes and procedures, including identification of process enhancements and improvements.
  • Prepare compliance and supporting documentation for internal control and review purposes as required.
  • Build and maintain solid working relationships with all global stakeholders across the Commercial teams, Risk Management Group, Financial Management Group, and Corporate Operations Group
  • Facilitate discussions across the various reporting businesses to ensure consistency is applied.

To be successful in this role you will have:
A minimum of 8 years relevant work experience is required with previous leadership experience in a commodity trading environment. Ags/Resources/Investor products highly beneficial.

  • Strong knowledge of International Accounting Standards/International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Ability to build rapport with multiple stakeholders including traders, marketers, risk & IT professionals, and business managers.
  • Team player with excellent oral and written communication and influencing skills.
  • Selfmotivated and able to work independently to complete responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Sets high standards for self and team.
  • Comfortable tackling new concepts and ideas associated with ongoing change in the business.
  • Ability to reassess / reengineer work processes.
