Painting & Decorating Trainer
Salary £28-£34K - pro rata (Dependant on experience)

Contract type:
Full time/Part time/Fixed term contract

You will be working for a well-respected charity, to plan for and deliver construction courses within custodial setting and in the community in order to prepare prisoners for employment upon release.

You will set high expectations for the work environmentand your learners in terms of security, health and safety and outcomes for learners.


_Responsibilities_

  • Provide both accredited and unaccredited training in painting and decorating in accordance with awarding organisation criteria, that meets the need of individual learners.
  • The ability to manage an in custody workshop and have effective classroom management skills, creating the expected behaviours; leading by example.
  • Actively engage learners in their own evaluation and assessment. Including ensuring you maintain group profiles, individual learning plans, lesson plans and schemes of learning, ensuring additional learning support needs are central to delivery.
  • Support the monitoring of delivery and achieved qualifications, in line with quality processes and data protection regulations.
  • To support Bounce Back tutors and case managers to help shape and positively impact our learners, to ensure that they are equipped for the world of work and are active in planning a meaningful future.
  • To be proactive in following all safeguarding, and health and safety regulations to ensure a safe and secure working environment in line with all policies.
  • Work collaboratively with other trainers and case managers to ensure support is provided to all learners to progress into further learning and employment, including the development of their English and maths skills.
  • Ensure that all records are up to date, accurate and meet all GDPR requirements

Personal Specification

_Knowledge and Skills_

  • Experience of teaching further education.
  • Extensive on site experience of all aspects of Painting & Decorating.
  • Experience of teaching functional skills and employability (desired).
  • Qualified IQA (desired not essential).
  • Experience of working with people with complex needs would be advantageous.
  • An understanding of working with awarding bodies such as City and Guilds &NOCN.
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team, creating a culture of high performance and cooperation.
  • An understanding & commitment to principles and procedures for safeguarding vulnerable adults including the 'Prevent' strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a thriving team environment.
