The Opportunity:
This job is an opportunity to help transfer knowledge of research associated with the STACK online assessment system to enable IDEMS International, a Community Interest Company (CIC), to significantly broaden the use and efficacy of online assessment within schools and university mathematics education for wider societal benefit.
The job will be based at IDEMS International CIC, and the associate will report to both IDEMS and the University of Edinburgh.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- PhD in mathematics or a related STEM discipline.
- Ability to programme to a high standard in PHP and Javascript.
- A working knowledge of best practice in software engineering, including version control and unit testing.
- Ability to contribute to medium and large scale projects as part of a team.
- The ability to communicate in clear English, for example the ability to write clear and accurate documentation and user guides, containing mathematical examples as appropriate.
- A working knowledge of typesetting online, e.g. in HTML, CSS, and basic LaTeX and of linux.
