Wellbeing Officer (Junior Apprentices)**
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term until 31st July 2024

Salary:
£25,930 - £28,143 per annum

Cardiff and Vale College are looking for an Active Wellbeing Officer based within the Active Wellbeing team within our City Centre Campus but with the expectation to cover other campuses as and when needed.

As well our mainstream learners, this role will heavily work with our Junior Apprentice programme.

The Junior Apprentice Programme is aimed at key stage 4 learners who are disengaged in mainstream learning for various reasons.

Our learners come from 22 Schools across the Cardiff & Vale area and study with us for two years.

The programme is vocational based giving learners the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications in their chosen pathway, We run 5 pathways as part of the programme - Hair & Beauty, Catering & Hospitality, Multi Trades (Plumbing, Construction and Automotive), Health & Social Care and Digital Creative.


Responsibilities include:

  • To travel across all campuses, developing a positive rapport and identifying activities the learners would like to have access to.
  • To have a visible presence in learner areas at key times e.g. break/lunch times and provide support to staff and learners.
  • To recruit and manage CAVC Active Wellbeing Ambassadors, contributing to their development and ensuring sustainability in their roles.
  • To develop ideas around the constructive use of social spaces within the College to enhance learner recreational time.
  • To enable learners to access appropriate support within College for their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
  • To actively promote the benefits of physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices to learners and staff, and support them with positive changes.
  • To assist & deliver multiple sports to a wide range of students & staff across all campuses.
  • To setup equipment for multi skill sports delivery.
The ability to communicate via the medium of Welsh would be desirable but not essential for this position.


Your employment with Cardiff and Vale College will also be dependent on suitable reference checks, before you are able to commence employment, Cardiff and Vale College must have received two references, one being from your present or most recent employer.

Registration with the Educational Workforce Council for Wales (EWC Wales) is a mandatory requirement of the post
