Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice - Trinity School


We are looking for a TA / SENCO Support apprentice to assistant students in their learning individually or in small groups as directed by the Class Teacher, whilst you work towards your Level 3 Teaching assistant qualification.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Teaching and Learning

  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with students to support their learning, encouraging independence.
  • Support students with their written and oral communication.
  • Read to students or listen to students read as appropriate.
  • Ensure students are focussed and on task.
  • Promote and support the inclusion of all students in the learning activities in which they are involved.
  • To assist with the supervision of, and encourage good behaviour amongst all students.
  • To work with individuals or small groups under the supervision of the teacher which may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.
  • Ensure that equal opportunities, bullying or harassment issues are dealt with appropriately as they arise in conjunction with the teacher/teaching assistant team.
  • Provide feedback to students and the teacher.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
  • Log any concerns about student behaviour and/or their learning with the relevant teacher and on CPOMS.
  • Supervise students off site on school trips and other external visits as required.

Specific to ASD Resource:

  • To support the individual needs of students in the resource, acknowledging the need for personalisation of learning.
  • To be part of the Plan Do Review cycle to have input into Students' Support and Adjustment Plans (SAPs.)

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet the needs of all students (inc SEN students).
  • Carry out all aspects of the role effectively and to seek help, advice or guidance as necessary.

Apprenticeship Details:

  • You will work towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification across a total duration of 16 months.
  • Training provider: LMP Group (Rated 3rd best apprenticeship training provider across the UK)
  • All online/ remote learning, no class room or college day release. An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship.
  • Maths and English GCSE or Equivalent required.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Staff Development:

  • To take part in the school's staff development programme by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development.
  • To continue personal development in the relevant areas.
  • To engage actively in the Performance Management Review process.
  • To work as a member of a designated team and to contribute positively to effective working relations within the school.


Once qualified you could progress onto a higher qualification or potentially offered a permanent position depending on availability and performance.
