Position Overview:


As a Shift Leader for Buns From Home Bakery, you play a crucial role in assisting the Site Bakery Lead, ensuring the successful operation of the bakery during your shifts.

You'll step up as the leader in their absence, making certain that both our team and our customers experience the excellence and warmth that defines our brand.


Key Responsibilities:


Shift Management:


  • Oversee the operation of the bakery during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient service.
  • Coordinate team roles during shifts, balancing workload and optimizing productivity.

Keyholding and Security:


  • Manage opening and closing procedures for the bakery during your shifts.
  • Safeguard bakery security, ensuring all protocols are followed.

Team Support and Guidance:


  • Offer guidance and support to bakery staff during your shifts, ensuring protocols are adhered to and highquality service is maintained.
  • Assist the Bakery Lead in conducting training sessions for newer team members.

Customer Service:


  • Address customer inquiries, feedback, or complaints, ensuring they have a positive experience.
  • Ensure that service standards are upheld consistently during your shifts.

Hygiene and Cleanliness:


  • Oversee the maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness standards in both frontofhouse and backofhouse areas.
  • Ensure cleaning schedules are adhered to during your shifts.

Stock Monitoring:


  • Monitor inventory levels during your shifts and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to the Bakery Lead.
  • Ensure products are displayed and stored correctly.

Reporting and Communication:


  • Communicate any significant incidents, feedback, or operational challenges to the Site Bakery Lead postshift.
  • Assist in documenting daily sales, wastage, and other operational data as needed.

Ensure timely commencement and wrap-up of shifts, maintaining consistency across the board.

Maintain strict adherence to bakery's opening and closing procedures.


Customer Experience:

Consistently garner positive feedback from customers, with a focus on service speed and quality.

Issue Resolution:

Address and resolve any customer complaints or issues during shifts promptly and professionally.


Hygiene and Presentation:

Cleanliness Standards:

Uphold immaculate cleanliness standards, achieving consistently high scores in any surprise or scheduled audits.

Product Presentation:

Ensure bakery products are displayed attractively and stored under appropriate conditions during shifts.


Inventory Management:

Stock Reporting:

Monitor and accurately report stock levels, identifying potential shortages and ensuring timely replenishment.

Wastage Reduction:

Monitor and reduce product wastage during shifts, aiming for mínimal loss.


Communication and Reporting:

Incident Reporting:

Promptly communicate any significant incidents or operational challenges to the Site Bakery Lead.

Operational Data:

Assist in the accurate recording of daily sales, customer footfall, and other relevant metrics.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Prior experience in a supervisory or team lead role within the food & beverage sector, preferably in a bakery setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety protocols in a food service environment.
  • Effective communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrable capability in handling operational challenges with a calm and efficient approach.

£12.50 per hour
