Leading the Bank's cost agenda, framing the strategic ambition and targets for costs with stakeholders at Board level through to heads of business.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead teams providing the end-to-end procurement cycle and optimisation of the cost base that supports delivery of the Bank's strategy as well as effective business partnering support to key cost centres across the bank.

  • Strong commercial acumen and a track record of delivering insight into an organisation's cost base and directing initiatives to reduce the cost base.
  • Experience of leading Procurement activities and delivering cost savings


  • Costing and Budgeting

  • Leadership of cost reporting and planning and forecasting activities across the organisation.
  • Strong leadership capabilities across diverse teams.
  • Significant experience in cost and procurement leadership roles.

The Role

  • Cost Insight
  • Provide insight to the Bank Executive on the drivers of cost across the Bank, working with business heads to identify potential savings and support delivery of these.
  • Lead cost reporting and planning activities through the financial cycle.


  • Procurement

  • Manage the delivery of the organisation's procurement strategy.


  • Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify and manage stakeholders up to top management level, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and reacting to these by leading and coordinating the development of stakeholder engagement plans to support the communication of business information and decisions.


  • Leadership and Direction

  • Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals


  • Contract Requirements

  • Identify contract requirements and write specifications for a large portfolio or area of the business for existing contracts and/or new contracts.


  • Category Management

  • Manage a major category plan/program in line with the organizations' purchasing/procurement and/or sales strategy ensuring realization of synergies, like cost savings and riskreduction, and/or optimization of the category profit.


  • Sourcing

  • Collect and analyse the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of innovation, and alternative suppliers for businesscritical risk area(s) with few alternatives / high costs of changing, in consultation with relevant functions to provide solid market information for decision making.


  • Strategic Planning

  • Take responsibility for developing and delivering the strategic planning approach for a key part of the organization.
