DCG Logistics UK Ltd is an international freight forwarder with warehouses in Chelmsford, Witham, Coventry, and Dartford. We are a fast-growing company in the freight forwarding industry. With our global network, we manage the shipments domestically and internationally.


DCG Logistics UK Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a full time Yard Shunter to work within our Transport department at our Coventry Depot.

The hours are 06:00 to 18:00, working in a four-on four-off shift pattern.

As a Yard Shunter, your duties will include:

  • To carry out daily vehicle checks, and complete basic vehicle maintenance tasks as required. Ensuring vehicles are mechanically sound and legally roadworthy and any defects are reported promptly through Mandata and to the transport manager.
  • To report promptly any accidents/incidents to Transport Manager, completing appropriate forms.
  • To ensure all paperwork/electronic records are completed correctly, presented accurately and in a timely manner (On Mandata, etc.).
  • Ensure all PODs (proof of delivery) are signed by the customer and checked before leaving.
  • Ensure vehicles are refilled with Diesel and AdBlue before shift ends.
  • To observe strictly the departmental regulations regarding the use of vehicles.
  • To comply with speed limits as posted.
  • To drive vehicles safely and responsibly at all times so as to prevent injury to yourself, others and company/customer property.
  • To report promptly, prior to the commencement of the shift, any illness/injury which may make driving hazardous.
  • Report immediately any issues affecting driving licenses with regards to conviction for motor offences or health problems to the Transport Manager.
  • To contribute to and work within a safe working environment
  • To ensure vehicles are kept clean inside and outside.
  • A willingness to provide reasonable cover for colleagues.
  • There is a frequent requirement for sitting or standing in a restricted position for a substantial proportion of the working time.
  • A high level of concentration when driving motor vehicles.
  • Undertake any training required in order to maintain knowledge and skills.
  • Moving loaded and unloaded trailers within the depot
  • Presenting the vehicle for loading when required
  • Planning/communication/transportation of stock
  • Shunting trailers around site
  • Making sure trailers are parked in designated bays around site.
  • Responsible for following the correct procedures when "coupling and uncoupling" the unit to the trailer.
  • To undertake any other duties as needs Indicate.


In this role it is required that you have a Class C+E license, up to date CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.

£15.40 per hour
