Ashton Recruitment requires a Social Inclusion Support Worker for their client based in Newry.

Hours:37 per week, 9am to 5pm


Rate of Pay:
£16.60 per hour


Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day management and development of the Ethnic Minority Support Centre Services.
  • To provide advice and signposting to members of minority ethnic communities, including but not limited to newcomer communities, e.g., asylum seekers and refugees.
  • To provide advice and signposting to the relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to members of the public, community and voluntary organisations, statutory bodies on matters relating to Social Inclusion, Diversity, and Inequality.
  • In liaison with the Project Coordinator implement and manage projects and policies to deliver aims and objectives to address issues of Social Inclusion, Diversity, and Inequality, in liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • To identify and initiate research into key areas of Social Inclusion, Diversity and Inequality and promote the findings of the research to encourage appropriate action.
  • To assist local Community Groups to increase understanding of ethnic diversity and promote integration of migrant workers and other ethnic minority individuals into local communities.

Essential Criteria:


  • To have a third level qualification (e.g.
, HNC/NHD, Level 4 etc) and 2 years' experience in all the following areas:

Providing support and guidance to vulnerable members of the community to include directing individuals to relevant groups or services.

Development of successful working partnerships with a wide range of groups and individuals


Or in lieu of a third level qualification have 3 years' experience in the above areas.

  • Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting minority ethnic communities, including asylum seekers and refugees.
  • Hold a full current driving licence and access to transport, OR access to transport to meet the requirements of the post.
  • Ability to work outside of normal office hours, including evenings, weekends, and public/bank holidays.

Desirable Criteria:


  • To have a degree level qualification
  • To have experience of providing support and guidance to members of minority ethnic communities.
  • To have experience of designing, implementing, and delivering training programmes.
  • Knowledge of a minority ethnic language.
