The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral Research Assistant in the area of Computational Social Science to work with Prof Aaron Reeves on a European Research Council-funded project entitled
_Changing Elites_.

The research project involves a cross-disciplinary group comprising of historians, psychologists, and social scientists who are exploring how processes of elite formation have changed over time.


The project is seeking to create an original database and you will be responsible for supporting various different data collection efforts.

This will involve a wide variety of tasks that may include (but are not limited to): web scraping, data wrangling, joining messy datasets (e.g., regex, fuzzy matching), optical character recognition, and other research-related tasks.

_either_ machine learning, natural language processing, optical character recognition, or computer vision. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage own research and administrative activities are also essential.

This is a part-time post, fixed term for one year.
