Sustainability Manager

Support the delivery of Beazley's global sustainability strategy as a subject matter expert on environmental impact, including climate change, nature, biodiversity, and the Net Zero transition.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive environmental and sustainability initiatives aligned with Beazley's goals, identifying opportunities to enhance environmental performance and reduce our carbon footprint.
Provide environmental technical expertise to underwriting departments and product initiatives, ensuring topics like climate change, biodiversity, and nature are actively considered in business plans and product development.
Ensure the transition plan is aligned with the climate risk strategy and integrate it within underwriting practices.
Support the development and refinement of Beazley's carbon offset strategy, including onboarding new partners, testing frameworks, and delivering practical solutions.
Collaborate with the reporting team to review data outputs, ensuring accurate and consistent reporting and data insights.
Implement Beazley's Net Zero roadmap, including target setting, action planning, and progress tracking.
Deliver regular progress reports on sustainability performance to senior leadership, the Board, and key stakeholders.
Integrate sustainable practices into operations by collaborating with internal teams (procurement, facilities, risk management).
Prepare and review documentation for internal and external audits on sustainability matters, adhering to regulatory and voluntary reporting requirements.
Audit systems and processes managing sustainability matters across the business.
Implement plans to improve sustainability ratings based on information gathered from audits or other sources.
Participate in industry initiatives on sustainability matters, sharing knowledge and insight across the business.
Support the Head of Sustainability with sustainability-related returns and submissions, including data quality checks and report content proofing.
Stay current with environmental and sustainability trends, technologies, and best practices, recommending innovative solutions to improve environmental performance and efficiency.
Develop training programs to educate employees on sustainability practices and foster a culture of environmental stewardship throughout the organization.

Requirements:

Undertake training on Beazley policies and procedures, displaying business ethics that uphold customer interests.
Comply with specific responsibilities for your role, keeping up to date with developments in these areas.

Personal Specification:

Experience in the sustainability sector, preferably in-house or consultancy.
Delivering sustainability initiatives or managing climate risk within the financial sector.
Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and working groups.
Knowledge of legal compliance and reporting requirements in the financial and environmental sectors.
Sustainability programme delivery experience, including Science Based Targets.
Strong analytical skills, with an ability to manage and interpret data for effective decision making.
Proven project management experience.
Liaising with, engaging, and presenting to senior business leaders.
