Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services

Our client is a national contractor who provides bespoke EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) services to the infrastructure and engineering sectors: rail infrastructure, mechanical handling, bulk storage, bridges, marine and ports, highways and transportation,utilities, professional services, and nuclear.

As a result of their continuing success, they are looking to add talented and highly motivated Senior Design Engineers to their Mechanical Building Service sector to join their excellent, expanding business.


As part of this team you will be responsible for effectively drafting and calculating bespoke Mechanical packages from surveying and feasibility studies through to detailed design and project construction.

All projects will be delivered through multiplesectors including, commercial, industrial, energy, transport, railway and will be cost-effective, safe and compliant with current industry standards.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Receive the Clients' brief, formulate the scope of works and develop the design philosophy.
  • Provide 'best value' working design solutions and written reports of technical problems.
  • Participate within design review meetings and hazard workshops etc.
  • Collaborate effectively between project teams.
  • Able to undertake calculations by hand and using Microsoft Suite.
  • Able to efficiently use AutoCAD 2D. (Use of Revit or Bentley (AecoSIM) Open Buildings designer for 3D modelling and Building Information Management systems such as Projectwise is beneficial but not essential).
  • Direct liaison with client representatives, 3rd parties and supply chain and coordinate sub consultants/specialists necessary to complete the design process
  • Manage members of the design team to ensure the timely delivery of information, checking the work of other members of staff and aiding their continued learning and development.
  • Working knowledge of Statutory Regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • Able to produce Designers Risk Assessments for projects.
  • Undertake site surveys and compile reports as many projects will be integrated with existing buildings/infrastructure
