We have 1700 members, three fantastic golf courses and hosted the ASI Men's Scottish Open in 2015 and ASI's Men's and Ladies Scottish Opens in 2018.

Maintenance Assistant

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Assistant will work as part of a team to upkeep and repair the interior and exterior of the Club premises.

They will be relied on to keep the facilities in perfect condition by doing various odd jobs. Deft hands and technical knowledge are important parts of a maintenance assistant's arsenal. The ability to be well organised, with strong general repair skills are essential. A keen eye for detail and physical stamina are valued greatly in this role.

The position offers excellent staff benefits including the chance to play on Gullane's three fantastic golf courses.

The position is full-time or part-time, working a minimum of 24 hours per week as per seasonal rota and will require some weekend work.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General upkeep of the golf course buildings and grounds, including gardening duties.
Perform maintenance and light repairs in all facilities.
Provide essential painting repairs & maintenance in all areas.
Checking and maintaining safety equipment such as fire alarms; fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide detectors.
Maintain outside facilities cleanliness by leafblowing and switching etc.
Following a maintenance schedule to ensure that all routine tasks are completed.
Identify and report the need for major repairs.
Weekend work raking bunkers on a rota basis with the Greens staff.
Any other duties, which may from time to time be reasonably allocated.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALITIES

The ability to problem solve and actively seek solutions.
Be able to cope with the physical demands of the role, i.e. short & long stretches of lifting and bending; reaching and carrying equipment; moving furniture up and down stairs.
Ability to multitask and effectively prioritise under pressure.
An ability to build relationships and communicate confidently with people at all levels.
Must maintain a positive attitude and have the ability to use their own discretion in all workrelated circumstances.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Proven experience in a similar role.
Experience with hardware tools.
Proven maintenance and painting skills.
Basic gardening knowledge.
Basic math skills.
Good communication skills.
Well organised and apt in problemsolving.
Attention to detail.

Hours of Work - currently 7am to 3.15pm with weekend work on rotation
