This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join an established CPF team. Any potential applicants should have relevant knowledge and skills to complement our existing haematology/ TYA team.

The Haematology Oncology service at the Christie offers state of the art treatments delivered by leading clinicians to patients with blood cancers and across the Manchester Region and beyond.

The post holder will be managed by the Senior CPF and supported by the Lead Nurse for Haematology/transplant/TYA Education & Palatine Ward, with additional support and collaborative working from the Lead Nurse TYA & Ambulatory Care/Withington Ward and Lead Nurse Haematology/Cell Therapy Specialist Nurses & Outpatients and the Christie Private Care Haematology & Transplant Unit.

The post holder will be responsible ensuring educational requirements are delivered in line with service requirement, including clinical and theoretical educational support to staff.


The CPF role will include joint working with the CPF team, maintaining induction, education and continuing professional development of staff on inpatient, ambulatory care and day unit facilities.

The post holder will work clinically with staff ensuring they are supported in the specialist knowledge and skills required for the department.

They will ensure that the highest standards are shared throughout the units and that joint Standard Operating Procedures and Trust policies are adhered to.

The post holder will ensure the continued compliance of internal TYA/ Haematology education The post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical expertise, exceptional role model and have excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of TYA/Haematology malignancies and stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy.

The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year.

We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

Working with the Senior CPF and senior nursing team the post holder will be closely involved clinically with the development of all grades of staff including determining proficiency based on competency assessments.

Work with the Senior CPF and Senior Nursing Team to identify strategies for practice development.

Work with Senior CPF and Senior Nursing Team to identify and implement structures to support best practice.

Promote and incorporate research/evidence based practice within the clinical setting.

Facilitate awareness of professional and educational development by acting as a resource person.

Act as an effective role model.

Develop competency based practice, supported by other specialist roles.

Liaise with outside educational organisations to help support the learning and development strategy.


Working with the Senior CPF, Senior Nursing Team to establish a system for the implementation of practice change/improvement following action planning in response to incidents.

Ad-hoc duties as requested by line managers.


To work 80% of the time in the clinical area supporting the staff in practice, facilitating reflective practice and providing day to day support.

To be a clinical expert.

To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence based nursing care for the patients and their families.

Ensure all nursing practice is within the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct.

Be actively involved in implementing clinical supervision across haematology & TYA care.

Develop and maintain competence in agreed basic and advanced clinical skills.

Provide expert advice on all aspects of oncology/haematology nursing through others where appropriate.

Work with the MDT to develop and support best practice in all aspects of haematology/oncology
