    The Opportunity

    We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team on a nuclear site in Bridgwater, UK. This role will play a crucial part in maximizing quality operations as we continue to expand.

    Your Key Responsibilities:

    1. Verify that construction work adheres to the contract and notify the Construction Superintendent of any discrepancies.
    2. Submit detailed reports of non-conformance requests to facilitate the issuance of non-conformance reports.
    3. Maintain effective communication with site teams, ensuring timely reporting of surveillance activities.
    4. Contribute to the development of KPI indicators through the provision of surveillance information.
    5. Proactively identify potential quality issues to enable mitigating actions.
    6. Support team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate risks and maintain quality standards. Follow up with appropriate action to prevent work halts.
    7. Ensure design decisions are made through formal processes rather than ad-hoc field decisions.
    8. Foster a positive team environment by maintaining a good understanding of current and future site activities.
    9. E nsure tasks are completed to quality standards in accordance with company health, safety, and environmental requirements.
    10. Develop and maintain knowledge of construction drawings, construction activities, quality control plans, and quality inspection records.
    11. Ensure and monitor that quality inspection records are taken and agreed before works are covered up.
    12. Review contractor performance against authorized quality control plans.

    Requirements:

    1. Wide understanding of the building industry, materials, trades methods, and legal requirements.
    2. Excellent organizational, delegation, and communication skills.
    3. Ability to work effectively within a high-performing team that consistently exceeds expectations.
    4. Proven experience in writing accurate, concise, and relevant diaries for various forms of contracts.
    5. Proven track record of working within large construction teams.
    6. Minimum HND in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent vocational training and experience.
    7. Demonstrated attention to detail when checking work and materials.
    8. Persuasive and diplomatic while remaining independent.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    1. Previous experience in the nuclear sector.

    Risks and Hazards:

    The role will involve working on a nuclear licensed site, which poses risks such as radiation, chemicals, gases, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, noise, and vibration levels. A comprehensive site induction will be provided, and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
