Job Introduction

This role has a starting salary of £41127 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.**
This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.


We are increasingly focussed on building a culture of support and challenge This will enable families, schools, and our partners to access information, advice, and support in a timely and responsive way so that children and young people with SEND can feel safe, supported, and thrive in education settings in their own community.


Successful applicants will sit within the L-SPA Multi-Disciplinary Team adding value through your knowledge and expertise related to education practice.

Each will have an assigned area of Surrey mirroring our quadrant footprint and will be expected to develop or build on local knowledge including the impact of demographic and social indicators that may influence the identification of SEND and the drive requests for EHC Needs Assessments.


You will have opportunities to work closely with colleagues in Surrey Education Support Services and those delivering our Team Around the School approach as part of a system wide delivery of intervention and prevention for SEND.

You will feel comfortable offering challenge and support in equal measure to professional peers with a view to driving up standards and offering practical help and advice in times of difficulty.

As well as supporting our schools and education providers to implement the graduated approach through professional peer to peer support, you will champion our:

  • local offer
- education support services
- new ordinarily available provision core offer
- new provision map guidance

  • Have qualified teacher status and have achieved their National Award for SENCO qualification
  • Are currently working or have worked in an education setting which demonstrates excellence in its SEN Support practice.
  • Have a genuine desire to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people
  • Are innovative and solutions focussed and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Are confident in challenging inadequate practice and upholding the thresholds for EHC Needs Assessments.

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.
