Job description

STEM Recruitment Solutions have an exciting new role for an experienced machine operative. As a Converting Operative, your main job is to efficiently operate machinery in the Converting department, performing tasks like Lamination, Slitting, Waxing, and Punching. Your goal is to produce goods according to the production plan, ensuring high-quality standards and compliance with customer specifications.


This is a mixed shift role consisting of early, back and night shift

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operate Converting machinery (waxer, slitter, laminator).
  • Handle reels manually, use lifting equipment, and load/unload materials.
  • Monitor production for flagged material, making adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure quality standards (glue weights, wax weights, slitting tolerances).
  • Quarantine suspect/poor quality products and maintain necessary records.
  • Perform weekly machine safety checks and cleaning and inspection duties.
  • Accurately input production data into the workstation PC.
  • Comply with line clearance procedures during job changeovers.
  • Participate in initiatives to improve health and safety, housekeeping, waste reduction, and environmental impact.
  • Seek continual improvement in productivity, efficiency, waste reduction, and quality.

  • Ensure work activities align with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and relevant accreditations.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping throughout the shift.

Key Results:


  • Safely and efficiently operate machinery to meet productivity and waste targets.
  • Adhere to the scheduled production program.
  • Produce goods to the highest standards, meeting customer requirements.
  • Provide comprehensive shift handovers to maintain a constant workflow.

Key Relationships:


  • Work closely with printers, other Converting Operators, warehouse operatives, and packers.

Other Requirements:


Qualifications:


  • Essential: Standard Grades/GCSEs in Maths and English at grades 3/C or above.

Experience:


  • Ideal but not essential: Previous experience in a Conversion department within the Print industry.
  • Preferable: Experience in Manufacturing, FMCG, or Production sectors.

Salary:
£12.50-£14.00 per hour
