Description
The DK Eyewitness travel division is seeking a well-organized and creative individual to work across our growing list of travel guides and gift and inspiration titles.
We are looking for someone with a passion for travel and travel publishing; someone with original ideas, excellent editorial skills and an instinctive sense for what makes great content.
During this 12 month maternity cover, you will be responsible for developing concepts, researching and honing new ideas, and preparing titles for pitch.
You will oversee the project-management of new titles, from approval of initial concept to finished product, and any points in between.
You will keep our established series fresh and up-to-date, offering improvements and evolving existing content. Above all, you will ensure all content is produced to the highest editorial standard.
Developing great working relationships, across all teams and at all levels, is central to the role, as are project management skills, both the ability to manage your own work and oversee that of others.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing your own projects and overseeing the work of others
- Researching and honing concepts for new titles and existing content
- Creating and monitoring schedules and budgets for a range of titles, ensuring all associated admin is updated and completed
- Commissioning, briefing and overseeing outsourcers
- Quality control of editorial content and sales material
- Copyediting, proofreading, fact
- Mentoring and developing the editorial team, offering practical support and handson training
- Regularly reporting progress and providing updates to the managing editor
- Reviewing and implementing editorial styles, documentation and processes

Salary:
Up to £38,832 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits
