Description

The post-holder will join the Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation (CHEME), to help drive the vision of CHEME to be the pre-eminent centre for health economics.

CHEME has a portfolio of research projects in the areas of pharmaceutical economics and policy, economic evaluation alongside clinical trials, public health economics, and methodological research.

The post-holder will be involved in the delivery of modules in the pharmacology and pharmacy degree programmes, and to supervise MScRes students in health economics / pharmacoeconomics.

Purpose of the Job

  • To conduct and report on research of an international standard in health economics, with substantial evidence of quality and international peer recognition.
  • To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of projects and students.
  • To provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Main


Responsibilities:


Research duties:

  • Undertake collaborative research with colleagues in the Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation.
  • Manage research projects, with an emphasis on research output of a quality and quantity to contribute positively to Research Excellence Assessments.
  • Identifying sources of future funding and contribution to the process of successfully securing funds.
  • Engage in scholarly and other relevant professional activities (e.g. Reviewer for academic journals, contributor to academic conferences)
  • Supervision of research students to completion within a range from undergraduate up to PhD level.

Teaching duties:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials, responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.
  • Motivate students to proactive engagement in learning, and provide meaningful and constructive feedback on the quality of their work.
  • Act as personal tutor to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • To participate and plan the development of new teaching and learning materials.
  • To initiate and take forward the development of new programmes.

Administrative and Wider Contribution duties will include:

  • Participate in the student recruitment and induction procedures of the School (e.g. School and University Open Days).
  • Contribute to the School's management, and participate in the administration of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (e.g. organisation of exams, contribute to accreditation/QA procedures (if module coordinator).
  • Contribute to the marketing of programmes by participating in School and College link activities and other marketing initiatives.
