Global Manufacturing organisation

Bolton - site based, Hybrid considered following completion of probation


My client who are a global manufacturing organisation are looking for an experienced Planning Supervisor to join their Bolton based team.

Key to this role is improving and maintaining a supply chain strategy and 21st century systems across planning, warehousingand material control, in order to profitably and efficiently meet customer requirements, considering company stocking policy and production efficiency for site.


Reporting into the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for supervising all direct reports for completion of daily tasks along with any problem solving matters as and when required.


Role responsibilities

  • Develop and lead SCM team in achieving profitable planning and manufacturing activities that drive towards site objectives. Assist in successful implementation and execution of SAP process. Utilise VSM to improve team performance
  • To lead strategy development to achieve medium to long term plans (312 month window) to contribute to overall company profitability. Including managing costs, inventory levels, data accuracies and stock strategies. Implement strong baseline for KPIs andmeasure improvement from these
  • Ensure customer satisfaction via daily contact regarding, delivery, quality, design, EDI and new project introduction. This includes regular face to face meetings where possible
  • To receive/analyse customer requirements and develop a strategy to deliver 100% OTIF. This will include checking, understanding and following customer requirements in terms of Logistics, ASNs, Packaging and Labelling Specifications
  • To improve relationships with suppliers and customers in order to understand and deliver desired service levels. Implement supplier scorecard and management of delivery performance
  • To lead the development of stock policies to ensure production plan and customer requirements can be met, whilst achieving stock level targets, stock accuracy/loss targets and maintaining profitability. Maintain accurate Bill of Materials, including designchange management
  • Improve storage systems and implement data driven solutions to storage
  • Own and coordinate inventory check process of all parts and packaging, ensuring stock levels are in line with company policy. Develop strategies to improve overall stock accuracy on site, including stock loss reduction
  • Managing a team of
  • Implement performance baseline and lead continuous development of staff, daily tasks, team function, processes and procedures.
  • To be responsible for departmental output in line with company needs, including to manage completion of all daily tasks (including redistribution of work where necessary) and problem solving. Provide training as appropriate
  • Assist in negotiation of costs and service levels with suppliers of Packaging; Transportation; Warehousing
  • Manage departmental spend in line with budget, minimise costs for premium freight and unplanned spends, lead development of ROIs for improvement proposals
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and process numerical data, paying high attention to detail
  • Proficient user of MS Excel confidence and ability to use vlookups, pivot tables etc. to manipulate, interpret and present data sets effectively to provide data driven decision making
  • Solutions orientated attitude with the aptitude to offer more efficient ways of working
  • Demonstrates rational and logical decision making
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise own workload in order to achieve deadlines
  • Ability to find effective solutions to problems
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with an international team
