PART TIME HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT
We are looking to recruit someone within a quick timescales to expand our current team and are wanting a HCA to join our friendly and busy surgery in Whitley Bay preferably with experience within General Practice.
This is a temporary post with potential to be made permanent (funding dependant).
Main duties of the job
Work will include all aspects of working in general practice including vaccinations, health promotion, wound care, phlebotomy, ECGs and infection control.

Beaumont Park Medical Group is an extremely busy practice (6800 patients) operating in the middle of Whitley Bay, the ability to work effectively as part of a team to assist the Practice in providing an excellent standard of service.
Job responsibilities
Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Duties and responsibilities:
- New patient health checks
- Phlebotomy
- Chaperoning duties
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Equipment and vaccine restocking and stock rotation
- Clearing and restocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and wellbeing
- Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
- Helping to raise awareness of health and wellbeing and how it can be promoted
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing
Qualifications:
Essential
NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
Desirable
Phlebotomy accredited
Immunisation and Vaccination accredited
Experience
Essential
Experience of working directly in a healthcare assistant role
Desirable
Experience working within a GP Practice
Demonstrates an understanding of Clinical Governance skill
Health and Safety Awareness
Basic first aid knowledge
Basic knowledge about Blood Borne Diseases
Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
Great communication skills
Customer Service skills/ Patient focussed
Ability to work as part of a team
Effective time management skills
Confident around other Health Professionals
Great communication skills

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Job Types:

Salary:
£10.50-£11.50 per hour
