I have an opportunity for a
Finance and Business Services Officer to join my client, a public sector organisation who are tasked with running a public inquiry.
The Offices and Public Hearings Venue are based in central Edinburgh.
There is a hybrid approach to the role with the possibility of working remotely up to two days per week.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop extensive knowledge of the Inquiry's financial database and processes and procedures, undertaking financial administration duties, both transactional and analytical;
- Develop extensive knowledge of the Inquiry's information management systems, policies, standard operating procedures and working practices, regarding finance and business services;
- Develop effective relationships across the Inquiry to ensure a productive working relationship with colleagues in the various business areas;
- Provide business services to all teams within the Inquiry;
- Ensure that all deliverables are met timeously, costs are carefully controlled and, where possible, improvements are proposed to F&BS management;
- Manage endtoend travel and accommodation requests in line with approved procedures;
- Ensure all finance and business services trackers are completed and kept up to date;
- Support the delivery and completion of the recruitment and induction onboarding processes;
- Support the leavers processes;
- Assist with the ordering and supply of IT equipment;
- Assist with developing and implementing policies and standard operating procedures;
- Ensure that all quality controls are followed and maintained and highlight any inefficiencies identified;
- Undertake general administrative duties, including, but not limited to, mail and courier services;
Skills and experience required:
- HNC or equivalent in relevant Finance or Business course or relevant work experience
- Administrative experience
- Extensive experience in a high performing, fast paced, dynamic environment, with experience of working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to work under pressure, plan, prioritise, manage competing demands, and meet tight deadlines
- A high degree of resilience
- Ability to provide concise evidencebased information for review and consideration
- IT Literate, with strong knowledge in Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive
- Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Excellent skills in attention to detail
- Flexibility to work across the various functions
- Established team player
