The salary for this training post is £19,371 - £20,697 (for the 1st year, the salary will be 70% of a Band 4, and for the 2nd year it will be 75% of a Band 4) in line with NHS AfC pay scale.

  • Attend a two year course one day per week release to college (BMET) to undertake studies to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a certificate in functional skills at level 2 (if required)
  • Complete Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) by gathering a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competence.
  • Participate in quarterly appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve set objectives.
  • Develop professional and pharmaceutical skills through participation in the Trusts pharmacy technician rotation programme.
  • Undertake study in own time when necessary.
  • Be aware and work within departmental procedures and policies, accepted standards of practice and relevant legislation.

  • Dispensary
Contribute to the provision of a dispensary service to inpatients and outpatients using the pharmacy computer systems for stock control and labelling including:

  • 10. Maintain satisfactory stock levels, storage and turnover of medicines to ensure the quality of medicines are maintained.
  • Identify actual and potential problems with reference to other staff as necessary
  • Complete and maintain accurate records where appropriate
  • Prepare labels and dispense medicines for patients
  • Issue medicines to patients, including appropriate information
  • Using communication skills to receive enquiries and other appropriate information from healthcare professionals, patients and members of the public
