    Background and Context
***The University of Hull is looking to appoint two Finance Assistants to join our friendly team within Central Finance.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post

In order to meet the needs of the University, all staff are required to work with a degree of flexibility to reduce single points of failure and to anticipate and support peaks and troughs in all areas of Finance


The role includes liaison with the Central Finance staff to ensure that income and expenditure is transacted in accordance with the University's Finance Regulations and Procedures.

Whilst not a comprehensive list, the following duties are 'indicative' of the role:

Supplier management, opening/amending new accounts as well as maintaining data in line with procedures.

  • Processing purchase invoices, matching with purchase order
  • Reconciling creditor statements and dealing with payment and invoice queries
  • Assist with the input of expenses and deal with queries accordingly
  • Must have good communication and customer services skills
  • Purchase order processing for Finance and Procurement only
  • Managing purchase orders up to invoice stage
  • Process credit card purchases for Finance, Procurement and HYMS
  • Import Journals on mass
  • Knowledge of the Sales Ledger
  • ICT literate, word, excel
  • Able to maintain regular and effective communication with internal and external staff.
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator
  • General financial administration supporting the Finance Directorate
