Techniche Global are supporting an engineering defence contractor to appoint a Design Engineer

  • Nuclear Processes to join a growing team at Devonport site. You will provide engineering support and advice and deliver design solutions in support of navalnuclear refit and maintenance activities across the Devonport Nuclear Licensed Site and MOD Authorised Site.

Rate:
£55p/hr UMB (max)


Location:
Remote/ Devonport

- base site
Duration: 6 months + (a long-term programme of work)

Requirements:
Valid SC Clearance (or have the ability to obtain it)

Your primary focus will be maintaining and controlling modifications to, and deviations from, the design intent of process/pressure systems and acting as the custodian of reference design documentation.

You will be responsible for leading design activitiesfrom requirements capture, design development, implementation and close out, to through-life support, decommissioning and disposal.

You will be focussed on ensuring compliance with Licence Conditions, statutory legislation and design codes/standards, leading,checking and approving design guidance, substantiation and analyses, and delivering against agreed budgets/timescales.


Key requirements:

  • You will need a proven background as a Design Engineer with team leadership experience.
  • You will need knowledge of pressure systems (pipework, tanks, pumps, overpressure protection etc.), computer aided design and engineering, and demonstrable experience of having applied the whole design lifecycle.
  • Experience of ensuring compliance with Nuclear Site Licence Conditions is also desirable.
  • A minimum of a Higher National Certificate in a relevant engineering discipline is essential. You will be professionally registered with the Engineering Council or be able to demonstrate evidence of working towards this.

  • You will be required to work in radiologically controlled areas (training will be provided)
  • You will work a 36hour week Monday to Friday with flexible start and finish times and an early finish on Fridays
