We are looking for a Packing Operative to join our team in Radstock.

The responsibility it to pack animal feed, ensuring all bags are as specified in the Work Instructions, secure, correctly labelled and ink jetted, ensuring quality and output targets are met.


You will ensure production output meets production targets, whilst personally undertake Packer and related machinery maintenance as required within specified level of competence.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Operate Raw Materials (RM) intake system, carrying out quality checks on RM's prior to tipping. Issue Keys for powder and liquid discharge whilst following guidance from Environmental work instructions, ensure discharge areas are left tidy and padlocks replaced prior to allowing vehicle to weigh out.
  • All liquid tanks must be dipped or contents gauge checked to ensure tank will take amount being delivered. Respond immediately if high level warning sounds whilst liquid tanks are being filled, to ensure tanks are not overfilled.
  • Dip Raw material bins as required to assist RM planner with procurement of Raw materials. Other stocks to be checked as required.
  • Load and unload bag vehicles using a fork lift truck, according to load lists and other information provided by weighbridge staff or as directed by Line Management.
  • Operate fork lift trucks safely and ensure they are checked before your shift using Scafftag system and defects reported. Always drive with due care for pedestrians that may be in the warehouse and yard areas.
  • Where possible prepick the products required for each load by manual handling of 25Kg and 20Kg bags in the warehouse. Mark customers name and vehicle carrying out the delivery on each customers products. Always check product code & description.
  • Using a fork lift truck load & remove 1T totes into and out of tote tipping units, according to drivers loading sheet. Take samples and complete documentation associated with this duty.
  • As required load and unload 0.5 & 1T minibulk bags using a fork lift truck.
  • Damaged and out of date products must be taken from stock and bonded as directed by line management.
  • Accurate and complete stock taking.
  • Good housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse, all spillages to be removed as soon as possible and warehouse regularly cleaned.
  • Follow procedures to ensure compliance with Quality system procedures, UFAS & HACCP
  • Adopt a 'quality first' approach and "get it right first time".
  • Observe Health & Safety at work and other current legislation, including site safety policy. Responsible for following risk assessments, safe working practices, permit to work system and isolation procedures.
  • Observe requirements of Environmental management system, ISO 14001 & 5000
  • Assist colleagues as required for other tasks.
