We are looking to recruit someone with experience and passion to join with our other Life Story workers in Care Services to deliver high quality Life Story work to children living with foster carers, their adoptive parents or Special Guardians.

About us:

Buckinghamshire is an ambitious, rapidly growing county, and our economy is one of the strongest in the country. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and ranks as one of the top rural areas to live in the UK and yet it is incredibly well connected
- only an hour from London on the train. The county has a rich history and heritage and is the birthplace of the international Paralympic movement.

We are looking for motivated, ambitious and inspiring people to join us on our journey, you will also be entitled to a range of different benefits to make sure you are happy both at work and at home.

About the role:

This is a 1-year fixed term contract, the focus of the work will be to compile the child's Life Story Book and to carry out age-appropriate direct Life Story Work with the child or young person

The role includes:

  • Exploring the birth history with the child and family
  • Working closely with other professionals currently involved: School, social worker, carers, therapists, adopters and Special Guardians.
  • Creatively compiling life story books with the child to support their transition to a new family.
  • Exploring a child/young person's sense of identity within their family, revisiting and developing an understanding of their past.

About you:

You must have some experience of undertaking Life Story Work and of direct work with vulnerable children and families and a NVQ 2/3 in a relevant field would be an advantage.

The Diploma in Therapeutic Life Story work is desirable.

You will need to engage with children whose lives have been disrupted and find creative ways to work with them.
