National ranging from £67,100 to £85,000 and London from £73,700 to £93,500

The team/department

  • This role sits within the User Centred Design Team within the Digital Delivery Hub. We are part of the Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) Division leading the FCA in harnessing the power of data and advanced analytics to transform financial regulation.
What you will be doing (the role)

  • As a Lead Content Designer at the FCA you will work within a specialist usercentred design (UCD) team to help increase the maturity of UCD across the organisation, and provide expert content design support to emerging multidisciplinary digital product teams to design new products and services that help our users achieve their goals:
  • Acting as a key member of the UCD Team leadership group and FCA content design community-
  • Advocating for effective content design strategy, negotiating with other stakeholders seeking legal or commercial precision at the expense of intelligibility or accessibility of content-
  • Improving engagement and value from digital products through greater user uptake, reduced user drop-out and improved data quality, through users fully understanding the questions being asked of them-
  • Defining style guides and content patterns to inform the emerging FCA Design System-
  • Supporting improved accessibility of products and services for diverse audiences-
  • Providing direct content design delivery support to key FCA programmesWhat you will get from the role

The skills and experience you will have

  • Minimum_
  • A proven track record of leading content design programmes
  • Substantial experience in working in project/programme environments involving business & IT change
  • Content Design experience within any of the following types of organisations/sectors: financial services, government/regulatory body, technology, consultancy (ideally IT consultancy)Essential
  • Usercentred content design. You can demonstrate extensive experience in creating, iterating, managing and overseeing highquality accessible content across multiple channels and end to end services to meet the needs of users. You can direct the approach to content lifecycle management to ensure content is regularly reviewed and evaluated by teams.
  • Identify gaps in content design skills and capability and can help teams to grow and develop
  • Strategic user focus. You can understand complex user journeys and can direct solutions to meet different needs within these journeys.
Agile working.

You can coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices, determining the right approach for the team or the project.

You can think of new and innovative ways of working to achieve the right outcomes. You can act as a recognised expert and can regularly assess and review capability within teams and ensure individuals have the skills needed to deliver Content concepts and prototyping. You can explain and demonstrate the value of different prototyping techniques to teams and encourage them to use these techniques in their work. Guide teams to build and create the most appropriate ways to visualise their work in context for different audiences. You can direct the team in the creation, testing and iteration of content patterns Stakeholder relationship management.

You can manage long-term strategic relationships with stakeholders, identifying where new connections need to be made and existing ones nurtured.
