Positioned primarily in the South of England, but with UK wide responsibility, the main purpose of this role is to support the Sopra Steria Ltd (SSL) and its Joint Ventures in complying with the Health and Safety at Work etc.

Act 1974 and supporting Regulationsthrough the H&S Management system, advice and support under the Head of H&S

You will also support the production and management of policies, procedures and tools that inform and report on company H&S arrangements and performance and take part in the delivery of key communications such as workshops and internal training sessions onH&S topics.


What you'll be doing:


  • Act as a proficient person as defined and required by the Health & Safety [at Work etc] Act 1974 and its associated Regulatory and Legal requirements (including Joint Ventures) and undertake monitoring of a single Health and Safety Management system isestablished and maintained that aligns to industry standards e.g. ISO 4500
  • Maintain an up to date solid understanding of UK Health and Safety Legislation to maintain standard process within company policy and provide operational support to the business on all matters pertaining to Health and Safety policy
  • Work collaboratively and in harmony with SSL and Joint Ventures, and report into the Head of Safety. This will extend to ensuring an appropriate geographic focus for regular site visits, safety audits, safety inspections of UK sites, including the JointVentures.
  • Support the Head of H&S on matters and representation, where requested, to collaborators including: H&S Forum, Enforcement agencies, insurers, clients and others
  • Investigate, support investigations by line management on a range of incidents and provide standard process advice and guidance or refer to the Head of H&S when in doubt.
  • Assist in Employee [TUPE] population migrations with associated due diligence and H&S compliance processes and assist in matters relating to Occupational Health, where there is an overlap between Occupational Health requirements and Health and Safety Regulatoryrequirements or obligations.
  • Provide guidance and support on priority risks such as DSE, Occupational Stress and others as matters arise in line with policy and contribute to the creation of informative documents including process guidance on H&S management

What you'll bring:


  • Minimum of a NEBOSH General Certificate, ideally N-Diploma
  • Experience of contributing in creation, maintenance and improvement of Health and Safety Management systems i.e. HSG65 / ISO 45001:2018 Experience of working in a geographically dispersed workforce with a combination of fixed and mobile work locations.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively within a matrixed environment and experience of raising organisational awareness and creating an improved Health and safety culture.
  • Proven investigative skills and the ability to compile accurate, analytical and comprehensive reports.
