About Our Client:


Our client is a leading FMCG Manufacturing business near Thirsk who due to growth are recruiting for a Transport Planner.


  • Promote a culture of people safety and feed safety by championing best practices in these areas and ensuring accountability and adherence to Company standards.
  • Coordinate transport effectively via shift handovers and at the wider business daily operational review meetings.
  • Work closely with the operational teams to ensure delivery targets and KPIs are met.
  • Creation of comprehensive daily load plan (multi drops) and route plans for all loads.
  • Allocation of loads to drivers and ensure load plans and routes are understood.
  • Monitor drivers and real time tracking of daily load and route plan, expediting solutions to delays and altering plan to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Conduct daily briefings and debriefing with the drivers.
  • Ensure that all drivers remain legally compliant.
  • Ensure the transport costs remain on target, specifically by balancing the use of external transport, with the use of own fleet and by driving efficiently within own fleet.
  • Maintenance of driver rota and holiday planning.
  • Book vehicle inspections, maintenance, MOT's and cleaning according to plan and arrange defect repairs.
  • Use of basic problemsolving tools and knowledge sharing to drive continuous improvement.
  • Operational administrative duties.

The Successful Applicant:


  • Previous experience as a Transport Planner
  • Experience of working in a fastmoving environment
  • Assertive, resilient and welcomes change
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management, results orientated and organised


  • Proven IT competence

  • Excel, Outlook, fleet tracking system
