About us
Longtown Outdoor Learning Trust is a small business in Hereford.

We are challenging, rewarding, collaborative, and our goal is to Longtown Outdoor Learning Centre is a busy, friendly residential outdoor learning centre in the Herefordshire village of Longtown, bordering the county of Monmouthshire.

We predominantly run residential courses for schools and educational establishments from all over the UK.

Course bookings are usually organised 12 to 18 months in advance and may include communication with school staff/leaders, the local authority, youth group leaders or parents directly according to the booking source.

Our work within the local community includes school-based PE and outdoor learning sessions, as well as afterschool and holiday clubs.

We also operate an Educational Visits Advisory service to provide health and safety advice to subscribing establishments who regularly organise educational trips for pupils.

In conjunction with our advisory service, we organise training courses for teachers and school staff to attend or re-validate Educational Visits training.


Key tasks and responsibilities:


Bookings

  • Communicating with schools and groups about bookings enquiries, quotes, visits and preprogramme details.
  • Develop first hand knowledge of the centres adventurous activities and communicate their benefits to prospective clients.
  • Creating and managing events via LOLT's website and Herefordshire Eequ portal
  • Organising EVC training courses.
  • Providing support (e.g. password resets) to schools on the eVisits system.

Marketing

  • Developing strong working relationships with visiting staff/leaders to encourage repeat bookings
  • Collecting feedback from attendees and recommending relevant operational improvements
  • Researching potential customers and producing targeted marketing campaigns
  • Preparing of printed marketing materials, newsletters and advertising
  • Updating content on LOLTs website and social media platforms

Other

  • To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adult visitors.
  • Ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons, and to comply with the policies and procedures relating to health and safety within the centre.
  • Carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the grade of the post.
  • This job description reflects the major tasks to be carried out by the post holder and identifies a level of responsibility at which they will be required to work. In the interests of effective working, the major tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changing needs and circumstances. Such reviews and any consequential changes will be carried out in consultation with the post holder.

Part-time hours: 20 per week


Salary:
£19,340.00-£30,172.00 per year
